Film Canister Keychain | Loaded with Expired Film

$20
Type Accessory
Details

Handmade by us from a real 35mm film canister, each keychain comes loaded with a random roll of expired film. A small piece of photographic history you can carry with you, then shoot when you're ready.

Every one is different, so the stock you get is luck of the draw. Expired film can shift colors and add grain in unpredictable ways, which is half the fun. A great keychain and a mystery roll in one — perfect for the film shooter who has everything or anyone who loves analog.

Super convenient, was able to liaison directly with staff for recommendations and help.

Perfect for the Smokey Mountain National Park photos that I took.

Kodak Portra 160 - Color

EDIT: I got a nice message in response and a speedy resolution, so updating stars Original review was about a mysteriously long wait time to get a quote for a repair, and a lack of refund of the inspection fee when I picked up the camera before any inspection had happened.

Love this place

The light meter on my Nikon FE2 stopped working. This was not a camera they typically work on, but they took it for me and ordered the parts needed to make the repair. James was extremely communicative and thorough, the camera has been working perfectly since I got it back. Will absolutely be coming back here for future repairs.

Big thanks to Keith at Brooklyn Film Camera for helping me troubleshoot some issues I was having with an SX-70 that I purchased at a thrift shop! The camera is now working and taking beautiful photos.

Shipping took longer than expected but it was high quality service with quick response and I got the camera before I went on my honeymoon.

The camera was packed well and so far the mechanisms work great on the camera and I look forward to seeing the shots that I took for my honeymoon.

Pentax K1000

Arrived a bit late, but five stars for the quality service and ensuring that I received my camera before my honeymoon! The camera was well packed and showed up in perfect condition.

I went in worrying that my Christmas gift (Nikon FE2) was broken because the shutter would stick and turned out it was just dead batteries. Dan was really kind, helped me out and didn’t make me feel silly at all. I’m completely new to film cameras and the fact that it was simply a battery issue could’ve been an embarrassing experience, but I wasn’t made to feel that way. If you want to be heard and assisted with kindness please come here

Great store with even better customer service!

For those weary about buying used film cameras, I extremely recommend buying from Brooklyn Film Camera. In April of this year, I bought an Olympus Mju I (a camera frequently bought at this store) and was skeptical at first. I put the camera to the test and unfortunately ran into some technical difficulties. However, Brooklyn Film Camera gives customers a 90 day warranty on all cameras because although camera issues cannot be prevented, they can most definitely be solved. The issue was that my warranty had just ended a week before the issue arose, but I believed it didn't hurt to ask and see if I could receive some help. To my surprise I was granted the green light to bring my camera for a check up and with the help of two employees – Keith and Taylor, I was able to successfully get a replacement camera (free of charge) and have been enjoying my camera ever since. Brooklyn Film Camera is one of those stores that makes sure the customer's experience (both inside and outside of the store) is met with the upmost care and respect. I will definitely be shopping here for my next camera as I progress in film photography.

Keith helped me with my purchase and am super excited to start taking photos :)

Purchased a Canon AE-1 a few weeks back and it has been great to shoot with! Keith at the shop was super helpful in helping me choose which camera to purchase. He let me handle a couple different ones to see which one felt best, explained the differences and possible pros/cons between them, and let me take my time in deciding (on top of answering all my questions). I've shot several rolls of film with it already and have had no issues at all. The film processing at the shop has also been great!

Dan was so helpful and took cute photos in the black and white Photo Booth !!

DAN IS AWESOME!! so knowledgeable and helpful. Answered my annoying questions on the phone too :)

Keith was extremely helpful, very excited to use what I got!

bought a camera here back in Jan and the shutter got jammed months later. brought it in for repair and James & team immediately cared for (and solved for) the issue! such attentive and kind support– repair team is apparently in every weekday :)

Very helpful and friendly! Keith helped me with a camera I found, got it working and showed me how to replace the film. Will definitely be back for any camera needs!

It is always great to find places that still cater to film photographers, especially instant film. Followed BFC for a bit and now am a loyal customer.

Bought this adapter for my Polaroids SX-70 and SLR 680. Shot a few test images with it by itself and with some filters and ordered a second dedicated one for each camera.

SX-37 Adapter

I recently bought an SX-70 from Brooklyn Film Camera, and honestly it was the easiest buying experience ever. I had no idea how to use it, but Dan took the time to walk me through everything, showed me how the camera works, and even helped me load my first pack of film. I appreciate him so much for his patience, professionalism, expertise, and willingness to share his knowledge. If you’re thinking about picking up a camera, I can’t recommend them enough.

Went in there with a broken Lens and Keith was very helpful. Highly recommend for all film camera needs.

Keith and their co-worker were helpful and engaging. A really nice shopping experience for curious beginners, including my 9.5 and 6 year old kids

Randomly got here and it’s a cute place!

My new lab to develop film!! Also Dan is the GOAT he let us pop in to take a photobooth photo even though he was closing on a Saturday night. Thank you so much Dan!!!!!

Thank you Keith for helping a girl out, good customer service. Bought some vintage paper: I will share results and highly recommend this space for all photographers and artists. Love the party lights in the bathroom, the Hello Kitty and Barbie polaroid cameras for sale are so cute! BFC is an analog photographer’s dream: 4x5, large-format, Polaroid, Fujifilm, various gear, serious vintage cameras, and ephemera. Also exhibits artist’s work. I will return with pals for the vintage analog photo booth (it’s magic) and I need to repair my SX-70. Let me know if you still do repairs!

Honestly, not a single complaint, I do really enjoy this place. I subscribed to their expired film club every three months, and it’s so fun and exciting to see which film I get. They also include a little information card and what they recommend shooting it at for ISO. I definitely would recommend.

I subscribed to the expired film club. I get 3 rolls every 3 months and honestly, I couldn’t be happier. I looked everywhere for expired film, but to have different options sent right to my doorstep without me thinking about it. Every three months is incredible. They also have a monthly option, which I adore! Would highly recommend - it’s so fun!

Shout out Dan! Awesome service! Super helpful

Just left Brooklyn Film. I have an old Pentax camera that I thought needed work but Dan looked out and advised I try the light meter app to start taking pics and even gave me a quick tutorial to get started. Very helpful and I appreciate the honest feedback. The spot also has a vintage Photo Booth which my husband and I got our pictures taken in. Very cool experience. Definitely will be back with my other camera.

Very cool store with friendly and helpful staff. Came in to trade in an old polaroid camera and bought myself a fully serviced and refurbished SX 70 sonar. They had a very impressive selection of products and provide a variety of services. Also has a fun vintage photo booth inside.

Been getting my film developed by them for about a year, and they recently started developing in house. Awesome results, the people are all super helpful, and knowledgeable. Became a member a few months ago and the turn around time is crazy fast. Dropped three rolls of film from a wedding and got them 3 days after, before the bride and groom.

Super knowledgeable staff! Taylor, one of the technicians, came upstairs and answered a lot of questions for me. I’ll be coming back for my repair needs for sure.

Great customer service!

Camera arrived in beautiful condition other than the grip peeling back a little (quick fix with some good double-sided tape). The lens looks clear and the camera is functioning well so far in my first roll through it.

Canon Sure Shot WP-1 - Brand New Latch

Was super easy to get what I needed

It was really good they developed it super well and fast

I've never been in person, but their online film selection is comprehensive. I've placed several orders, and they have always shipped very promptly. Customer service has been great, suggesting alternatives when the thing I ordered went out of stock. My only complaint is that the turnaround time (At least for the black and white roll of 35 mm film I sent in) was on the longer end for labs I've used. It was about a week from the film getting developed to having the scans in my inbox. I'm hopeful that it is quicker for color rolls. Also, don't be alarmed if the scan portal, and order lookup feature on their website doesn't work. There wasn't any confirmation that they had received my film until I got the download link with scans. **Quick Update** Anecdotally it appears that their turnaround time for color is the same as B&W, if not longer. My roll got delivered a week ago and I still haven't received scans. Definitely not a deal breaker but just something to be aware of!

I have been coming here for years but recently I had a brilliant experience with Keith, who walked me through several cameras types when I was looking for a new point and shoot for a gift. Amazing service!

Premiering at Tribeca was a dream! What I didn’t see coming is how magical my premiere party will be. BFC was the perfect space for it, but what made it dreamy was Dan! His support was more than I could hVe asked for. He really felt like a friend that was also there to celebrate my film and make sure everyone was having a great time! What a gem of a person, and of a space! Our party ended with everyone taking photos at the analog photo booth, so now we all have a little souvenir from that night at BFC!

I wrote to BFC with questions on which entry level camera was best for someone with my polaroid experience, I received a long, thoughtful response within 24 hours--super helpfu!

For background I have been shooting my old SX70 for about 6 years. I had come across BFC through their Polaroid repair work and was impressed by the shops quality and service reliability. (I used my SX70 across well over a dozen countries with a lot of rough travel and BFC has done two great tune ups of it for me!) So when it came time to move to 35mm I went with BFC's rec and got the K1000. I am still a week into shooting on this camera and I am yet to develop my rolls, but I have been impressed both by the process of getting the camera from BFC (it came carefully packaged and ahead of schedule), and the camera itself. I am anticipating a steep learning curve to figure out how to fully utilize the additional capabilities of the K1000 relative to my sx70--but the shooting experience is lovely. The shutter has a very satisfying click and the winding wheel is similar object of audio-delight. The viewfinder is nice and large and the lightmeter is responsive. Its a fun camera--excited for it to be my first in this new phase.

Things I expected at a camera store: cameras. Things I did not expect: the best premiere party host in Brooklyn..Thank you, Dan :) Dan was warm, calm, generous, and three steps ahead of us all night. He treated our whole crew like old friends. Brooklyn Film Camera is lucky to have him, and so were we.

Held an event here and I can’t say enough great things about Dan and the store. Dan was incredibly kind, generous with his time, and was so warm & welcoming to our party. The store was super cool and it was great to be able to utilize the backyard as well. Would highly recommend!

Hosted a Tribeca Film Festival event here and was blown away by the incredible atmosphere/vibe of the store and particularly charmed by the incredible service — especially from Dan in the days leading up to the event and the event itself. He was there the whole time and was incredibly helpful and kind. He went above and beyond to make sure our event ran smoothly and that everyone enjoyed themselves. It’s clear BFC cares a lot about community & uses their space to promote connection and togetherness — truly embodying the spirit of film!! They also have a goated selection of cameras and film and Dan is always super helpful in getting you exactly what you need. One of my favorite nyc establishments!

Just received my min condition Canon WP-1 camera. It came quickly, and works absolutely perfect! Not bad for a camera that came out in 1994! Definitely will be my go to film camera store from here on out!

So many fun cameras, film stock, and a film Photo Booth! Coco was amazing and took the time to answer a ton of questions, some of which were about cameras we didn’t even purchase. We will be making this our main film camera store moving forward!

I bought my K1000 a little less than 2 months ago, and the condition and the photos are incredible.

Pentax K1000

Quick shipping, good communication. Couldn't ask for more

Shipping was fast and the camera came in nearly mint condition (especially considering we're talking about almost 30 year old equipment). This version was a bit pricier than untested options, but the peace of mind from the full inspection is worth every penny in my opinion! Everything has worked great so far with a couple of test shots, I can't wait to take the camera on trips and shoot more!

Canon Sure Shot WP-1 - Brand New Latch

Was able to get my film roll switched after one had sold out it went very quick and I was able to receive everything in time! My film rolls came out beautifully!

Was able to get this film just in time for my photoshoot. It was everything I need for those awesome pictures, it allowed me to have such a cool grain effect on my camera and as always easy to use :)

Kodak Portra 800 - Color

Great customer service!

Love this camera strap, and the fact that they used sustainable materials!

Couch Camera Strap | Recycled Army Green Seatbelt

To describe in one word: Unreliable. I live right around the corner and was excited to make this my everyday buy + dev&scan shop, but it’s disappointed me each time. Scans take double the time mentioned to come back — I get lab work takes time, so just say the real turnaround time and I wouldn’t think anything of it. Called to see if a flash was in stock, was told it was, arrive an hour later: not in stock. Just a bit unprofessional IMO. I was in Manhattan & would’ve just gone to B&H while I was there, and probably will do that from now on. EDIT: Totally forgot to mention, but bought some Konica 100 expired film from here ($13). I shot it at 50 iso -- roll came back blank without even a filmstrip, just black. A friend of mine got a roll of this as well and shot it - same result. I absolutely know that buying expired film is risky! and unreliable! and maybe this was a coincidence! but do any of the $13 Konica rolls expose properly? No refund on that which is fine, I took the risk -- but it adds to my lack of trust.
