Restoration FAQ

What is the turnaround time for a Polaroid Restoration?

Our SX-70 Restoration turnaround is typically 8–12 days from the time we receive your camera. While this is our average, timing can shift depending on how deep or shallow our queue is. For an exact ETA, you can note that you’d like a repair ticket created with your order, or email hello@brooklynfilmcamera.com.

I shipped my camera to you — did you receive it?

If your tracking number shows “Delivered,” your camera is safely in our hands. For absolute confirmation, email hello@brooklynfilmcamera.com with your Order Number and we’ll confirm for you.

I sent my camera in for X issue and now Y issue is happening. What did you do to my camera?

Our technicians thoroughly service every camera that passes through our bench, and all restoration work is covered by a 6-month warranty after pickup/shipment. If something unexpected comes up, please reach out right away so we can assess and help get your camera back into great shape ASAP.

Email: hello@brooklynfilmcamera.com

What does the 6-month warranty cover?

Our warranty covers complications or additional repairs that arise within six months of the original repair date for issues related to the work performed. The warranty does not cover physical/impact damage, water or moisture intrusion, corrosion from battery leakage, or misuse. We reserve the right to deny warranty claims if user error is determined.

What if your technicians can’t fix my camera?

In the unlikely event that we’re unable to complete your repair, we’ll contact you to discuss next steps. When possible, we’ll offer alternatives or recommendations that make the most sense for your camera.

Why don’t you repair Polaroid 600 cameras?

We service Polaroid 600 cameras internally as part of our own inventory workflow, but we don’t currently offer 600-series repairs as a public service.

600 Modification

We are capable of modifying most SX-70 cameras to shoot Polaroid 600 film. Why are so many people opting for this upgrade?

  • Better Low-light Performance: 600 film allows you to make well-exposed images in a wider variety of settings without needing to rely on flash.
  • Easier to Find Film: 600 film is stocked by most camera shops and big retailers and is significantly easier to find than SX-70 film.
  • Special Edition Films: Polaroid releases many special-edition films for 600, while SX-70 typically offers the core Color and B&W films.
