How releases work. If anyone in a photo or clip you submit is recognizable, enter their name and email when you submit (for anyone under 18, a parent's or guardian's email instead). We email them the release below with the photos attached. They read it and either sign it or tap "No thanks," and their answer comes straight back to us. You can't sign for anyone, and you don't need to print anything.

Adults who haven't signed yet: we may post the work on our social media and license it through BFC Stock for editorial use only (news, magazines, books). No ads or prints until they sign.
Anyone under 18: nothing is used until a parent or guardian signs, and work showing kids is never offered in BFC Stock.
Places: you don't need anything. If we ever need permission for a place, we send the place release to the owner ourselves.

Below are the three releases we send, so you know exactly what the people in your work are asked to sign.

Release 1: Person in the photo (18 or older)

[Contributor name] sent us the photos or clips below for Brooklyn Film Camera's Contributor Program, and you're in them. Please read this before you sign. If you don't want to be in them, tap "No thanks." We won't use them, or we'll take them down if we already have.

1. What you're agreeing to. You give the photographer and Brooklyn Film Kamera LLC, doing business as Brooklyn Film Camera, 855 Grand St, Brooklyn NY 11211 ("BFC"), permission to use the photos or footage above, including your face, likeness and voice:

on BFC's social media, website, emails, in-store displays and printed marketing
in BFC's paid ads
in prints that BFC sells
in BFC Stock, BFC's stock library, where BFC licenses them to brands, publishers and other customers, including for their own ads

This permission is worldwide and has no end date unless you ask us to stop under section 4.

2. Limits. The images can be cropped, resized and color corrected. They won't be altered to change how you look or what you're doing. Nobody may:

put a quote or testimonial in your name
present you as personally endorsing a product
connect you with health conditions, sexuality, politics, religion, crime, or drug or alcohol use, unless you sign a separate release for that
use the images to train artificial intelligence

3. Payment. You aren't paid for this release. The photographer may earn money when a print or license sells.

4. Changing your mind. You can ask us to stop at any time by emailing hello@brooklynfilmcamera.com or using the link in this email. Within 30 days we stop new posts, ads, print sales and licenses, and take the images down from our accounts and website. Prints already sold and licenses already granted stay valid, and we can't remove copies other people have shared.

5. Your information. We keep your name, email and signature only as a record of this release. We won't add you to our mailing list.

6. Confirmation. By signing, you confirm you're the person in the images, you're 18 or older, and you've read this release. New York law governs it.

Release 2: Parent or guardian (child under 18)

[Contributor name] sent us the photos or clips below for Brooklyn Film Camera's Contributor Program, and your child is in them. Because they're under 18, nothing is used until a parent or legal guardian signs. If you'd rather they not appear, tap "No thanks" and we won't use them.

These images will never be offered in BFC Stock, our stock library, or licensed to anyone else. This permission is worldwide and has no end date unless you ask us to stop under section 4.

5. Your information. We keep your name, your child's name, your email and your signature only as a record of this release. We don't collect your child's birth date, and we won't add you to our mailing list.

Release 3: Private place (only sent when BFC asks)

We only ask for this when a private place, like the inside of a home, shop or restaurant, is the main subject of a photo or clip. [Contributor name] sent us the images below, and they show [place name].

2. Privacy. We won't publish the street address with the images. We'll only name the place if you tick the box below.

3. Payment. You aren't paid for this release.

4. Changing your mind. Email hello@brooklynfilmcamera.com and within 30 days we stop new posts, ads, print sales and licenses. Prints and licenses already sold stay valid.

5. Confirmation. By signing, you confirm you own this place or are authorized by the owner to sign for it. New York law governs this release.
