About Vintage Camera Lenses
How do I know which lens fits my camera?
Match the lens mount, not the brand. A mount is the fitting that locks the lens to the body, and it differs between systems. Canon FD lenses fit Canon FD SLRs like the AE-1. Pentax K lenses fit the K1000. Check your camera's mount first, then browse our 35mm cameras if you need a body.
Can I use an old lens on a different camera with an adapter?
Sometimes. Adapters work best on mirrorless digital cameras, because those bodies sit close to the sensor. Most film SLRs leave no room for an adapter, and the lens may lose infinity focus. The safest choice is a lens made for your camera's mount, such as a Canon FD lens for an FD body.
Which lens mounts do you have right now?
On our shelf right now, we have Canon FD lenses (about $200), a Nikon F zoom ($180) and a Leica M-mount Voigtländer 40mm ($700). We also have Contax G lenses: a Zeiss 35mm ($840) and a Zeiss 90mm ($600). Stock changes often.
What does a CLA'd lens mean?
CLA stands for clean, lubricate, adjust. A technician removes dust and haze, refreshes the focus grease and sets the aperture and focus. Our Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 is fully CLA'd, with clean glass and smooth focusing. Every lens is examined and tested by our camera department.
