Our Process

1

Intake

Evaluation of core functions. We take a lot of time in choosing what we sell, picking cameras that are still reliable and meant to last. We test cameras to check accuracy of speeds, light meters, light leaks, aperture accuracy, and more.

2

CLA

Whenever possible, we perform a complete CLA to bring cameras back to original factory specifications. Most mechanical cameras can still be fully serviced this way, and our technicians spend months studying each model to meet the same standards the cameras were built to decades ago. Most non point & shoots we sell can be fully serviced to these specs, and carry a longer warranty. CLA service on these cameras typically take 1-3 hours.

3

Restoration

Our aesthetic techs install new light seals & foams, ensure all the areas on clean and looking pretty. When possible we will sand, grind, and polish certain bodies and metals. We only sell cameras that are in 80-100% of original aesthetic quality.

4

Testing

We do final tests on all of our cameras. 35 & 120 cameras are speed tested, and lens are aperture and focus tested to ensure accuracy. These cameras are only sold if our final tests are within standard factory margins. Super 8 cameras are fully film tested every time. Polaroids are fully film tested every time.

1

Intake

Evaluation of core functions. Extensive testing.

2

CLA

Mechanical adjustment. SX70 Cameras take full teardown's and rebuilds. Our technicians clean corrosion from the electric eye, clean gears and motors and swap out defective parts. The entire internals are gone over from top to bottom

3

Restoration

Our aesthetic technicians strip the old leather, replace, put new stickers on, and give the cameras a final clean and polishing.

4

Testing

Film tested & approved.

Can I swap my camera?

Warranty exchanges only cover replacement or repair of your camera.

The Technicals

SLR cameras and all Polaroid models, including the SX-70, include a six month mechanical warranty. Most non-Polaroid mechanical cameras also include a six month mechanical warranty. Point and shoots include a three month warranty. Some products have extended or limited warranties. Check each product listing for exact terms. Warranties are non-transferable and do not cover liquid damage, tampering, impact damage, intentional damage, misuse, or any problems caused by outside repairs or attempted repairs.

We do not issue refunds for cameras after 14 days. After that window, cameras may be repaired or replaced at the discretion of Brooklyn Film Camera.

Warranty cameras are not exchanged on the spot. We reserve the right to inspect any warranty claim for up to five business days before deciding whether to repair or replace the camera. Brooklyn Film Camera may void a warranty if evidence of tampering or damage not covered under our warranty policy is found.

If you are having an issue with a camera you purchased or had serviced with us, reach out by phone or email or stop by our Williamsburg store during normal business hours. We’ll help get the camera repaired or replaced as quickly as possible.

Return shipping and logistics are the responsibility of the customer, and all returns must be authorized before anything is sent to us. Do not ship any gear until you’ve spoken with a customer service representative and received authorization. Brooklyn Film Camera reserves the right to deny refund or warranty claims at our discretion.
