Warranty & Service

We stand behind every camera we sell.

Every camera we sell is professionally restored by our in-house team and backed by a warranty. If something goes wrong within the coverage period, we'll repair it or replace it with the same model at no cost.

BFC is not responsible for manufacturer warranty claims on new or non-restored products.

How warranty claims work

Three steps from claim to resolution.

01
Submit your claim
Log in to your BFC account and use the Shipping Label tab to open a warranty claim, or come into the store at 855 Grand St. Do not ship anything before receiving authorization.
02
We inspect
We reserve up to 5 business days to inspect the camera and determine the cause. We may void a warranty if evidence of tampering, liquid damage, or misuse is found.
03
Repair or replace
Approved claims are repaired at no cost. If the camera cannot be repaired, we replace it with the same model. Cameras are not exchanged on the spot, we contact you once resolved.

Returns

14-day window. Same condition required.

If you change your mind, you have 14 days from delivery to return your camera. The camera must be returned in the same condition it was received. A 15% restocking fee is deducted from your refund.

All returns must be authorized before shipping anything to us. Contact us at hello@brooklynfilmcamera.com with your order number to start the process. Do not ship without authorization.

If a camera has a functional issue within its warranty period, we recommend using the warranty instead of returning, since we'll fix or replace it at no cost.

Shipping

Coverage depends on timing.

Within 30 days: BFC covers return shipping on warranty claims and approved returns.

After 30 days: The buyer is responsible for return shipping both ways on all warranty claims. We recommend a tracked shipping method.

Do not ship any gear until you've spoken with us and received a return authorization. Brooklyn Film Camera reserves the right to deny refund or warranty claims made without prior authorization.

How every camera is restored

Each model goes through a process tuned to its design.

01
Intake and functional check
We verify shutter operation, exposure and metering behavior, flash readiness, autofocus (if equipped), film transport, and all buttons and switches. Results are evaluated against factory specifications for the model.
02
Seals and maintenance
Old foam and light seals are removed and replaced. We clean the door channel and contact areas, and service hinges and latches to improve closing and ensure a light-tight fit.
03
Restoration
High-wear areas are cleaned and exercised: door mechanism, rewind and release, switches, and levers. Any parts that are worn or damaged are replaced as needed.
04
Final detail and QC
The camera is detail-cleaned inside and out (lens, viewfinder, body) and run through a final functional check using professional calibration equipment before it ships.
01
Intake and functional check
Shutter speeds are tested across all settings. Metering, mirror operation, film advance, rewind, self-timer, and all mechanical controls are evaluated against factory specifications.
02
Seals and maintenance
Mirror bumper and light seals are replaced throughout. The door channel, hinge points, and contact areas are cleaned. Where applicable, the shutter and aperture blades are inspected and cleaned.
03
CLA (Clean, Lubricate, Adjust)
Mechanical cameras receive a full CLA where needed. Internal mechanisms are cleaned, lubricated, and adjusted to factory tolerances. Shutter speeds are calibrated.
04
Final detail and QC
Lens, viewfinder, and body are cleaned. A final functional check is run with professional equipment before the camera is graded and shipped.
01
Intake and mechanism check
We test the entire film path, ejection mechanism, shutter, flash, and folding mechanism (where applicable). SX-70 and folding models receive particular attention to hinge and bellows condition.
02
Rollers and film path
Ejection rollers are cleaned thoroughly. A dirty roller is the most common cause of failed Polaroid development. The film door, dark slide mechanism, and contacts are all cleaned and tested.
03
Electronics and flash
The flash circuit, electronic shutter, and battery contacts are tested and cleaned. Sonar autofocus (where present) is verified for correct operation.
04
Test and QC
Each Polaroid is run through a full test before shipping. We verify that film ejects cleanly and the exposure is correct before it leaves the shop.

Common warranty questions

Point and shoot cameras come with a 3-month warranty. SLRs, rangefinders, medium format, and Polaroid cameras come with a 6-month warranty. Coverage begins from the date of purchase. Some products may have different warranty terms, check the individual product listing for details.
Yes. Every camera goes through our full restoration and inspection process. We don't just clean and relist. Each camera is tested against factory specifications using professional calibration equipment before it leaves the shop.
Log in to your BFC account at account.brooklynfilmcamera.com and use the Shipping Label tab to open a claim, or come into the store at 855 Grand St, Brooklyn. Do not ship anything without receiving authorization first.
Warranty coverage only applies to the camera you purchased. If the camera cannot be repaired, we will replace it with the same model, not a different one. If you'd like to switch to a different camera, that would be a separate purchase.
Within the first 30 days of purchase, BFC covers return shipping on warranty claims. After 30 days, the buyer is responsible for shipping both ways. We recommend using a tracked service. Do not ship anything until you've received authorization from us.
The standard warranty does not cover accidental or impact damage. If you want accidental damage coverage, we offer an Extended Warranty that covers it, available at the time of camera purchase.
No. The warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser. Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims.
