About Polaroid 600 Cameras
Polaroid 600 cameras are the boxy, fixed-focus instant cameras from the 1980s and 90s, and they shoot the Polaroid 600 film still made today. Point, press the red button and the print comes out. We carry the classics and the fun ones: the OneStep Close-Up, Supercolor, Sun 600, Job Pro and Red Stripe, the Cool Cam in red and pink, and character editions like Barbie, Hello Kitty and Taz. Right now they run about $125 to $400.
Each camera is cleaned and tested in our Brooklyn shop before it goes on the shelf.
What film does a Polaroid 600 camera use?
Polaroid 600 film, in color, black and white and special editions. i-Type film fits too, but it has no battery in the pack, and 600 cameras need that battery, so stick with 600 film.
Can a Polaroid 600 shoot SX-70 film?
It fits, but SX-70 film is much slower (ISO 160 against about 640), so pictures come out too dark. Stick with 600 film in a 600 camera.
What's the difference between a 600 and an SX-70?
A 600 is point-and-shoot. An SX-70 folds flat, has a glass lens you focus yourself and gives you more control over exposure.
Is the Polaroid 600 camera good?
Yes, for easy instant photos. Most 600s are point-and-shoot: fixed focus, automatic exposure and a built-in flash, so you just frame and press. It gives the classic square Polaroid look. For control over focus and exposure, a folding SX-70 is the step up.
How much is a Polaroid 600 camera worth?
On our shelf right now, cleaned and tested 600 cameras cost about $125–$175 for models like the OneStep Close-Up, Sun 600 and Supercolor, and up to $400 for character editions like Hello Kitty and Taz. Untested thrift-store cameras cost less, but many of them no longer work.
Can I still get Polaroid 600 film?
Yes. Polaroid still makes 600 film in color, black and white and special frame editions, and we stock it in our instant film collection. A pack has 8 photos and costs about $22–$30 here. Keep it in the fridge and use it before the date on the box.
Does a Polaroid 600 need batteries?
Not a separate one. Every pack of 600 film has a flat battery inside that powers the camera, flash and motor. That is why i-Type film, which has no battery, will not run a 600 camera. If a 600 camera seems dead, load a fresh pack first.
What warranty comes with your Polaroid 600 cameras?
Every vintage Polaroid we sell, 600 cameras included, comes with a 6-month warranty. If it fails in that time, we repair or replace it. Each camera is cleaned and tested in our Brooklyn shop before it is listed, and you can return it within 14 days with no restocking fee.
